La Réserve de Beaulieu — Les Agaves Brasserie
The legendary Hôtel La Réserve de Beaulieu has anchored the town's waterfront since 1880, and its brasserie Les Agaves lets you experience that storied Belle Époque glamour without the full gastronomic-restaurant price tag. The terrace hangs directly over the sea wall, close enough to the water that a wayward wave occasionally sprays the tablecloths.
What to Order
The bouillabaisse served here is prepared to the strict Marseille charter — saffron-scented broth arriving first with rouille-smeared croûtons, then the whole fish presented tableside before being filleted — and is widely considered among the finest renditions on the Riviera east of Nice.
For a lighter lunch, the salade Niçoise uses line-caught tuna, local anchovies and eggs from the hotel's own supplier; paired with a glass of Bellet blanc from the hills above Nice, it is a masterclass in regional cooking.
Atmosphere and Booking
The pink-and-white Italianate façade of La Réserve glows at sunset and makes every table on the terrace feel like a film set — dress smartly but not formally, as the brasserie deliberately pitches its welcome somewhere between grand café and luxury hotel restaurant.
Reservations are strongly recommended for dinner in July and August; lunch on a Tuesday or Wednesday is the insider's move for a quieter, more leisurely experience with the same kitchen quality.
