Monte Boi Viewpoint
A short drive or determined uphill walk south of Baiona's centre, Monte Boi rewards with arguably the finest unobstructed coastal panorama in southern Galicia. The scrubby heathland smells of wild thyme and the drop to the sea below is dizzying in the best possible way.
Getting to the top
The most popular approach follows the coastal path (Camiño dos Faros) northward from the village of Oia, but from Baiona you can reach Monte Boi in about 40 minutes on foot via the GR-53 trail that threads through eucalyptus forest before breaking out onto open heath.
A rougher option is to drive the local road toward the Monte Lourido area and walk the final 15 minutes on a dirt track — the car park is informal but usually available outside summer weekends.
What you see from the top
On a clear day the view sweeps from the Cíes Islands in the north all the way to the Monteferro headland and across the Portuguese border coast to the south — you can genuinely see two countries from one rock.
Below the cliffs, Atlantic swells crash against granite stacks and in autumn you may spot migrating gannets diving just offshore. Bring binoculars and a windproof jacket even in summer.
