A' Paranza Restaurant

Named after the traditional small fishing boat used along this coast, A' Paranza has been serving the freshest catch in Atrani for over two decades, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand for food that punches well above its price point. The dining room is carved partly into the cliff face, and the menu changes daily depending entirely on what arrived in the harbour that morning.

What to Order

Start with the frittura di paranza — a golden, grease-free heap of tiny whole fish, baby squid and shrimp that arrives in a paper cone and disappears in minutes; it is the definitive version of this Campanian classic on the entire coast.

The pasta al scoglio here uses linguine rather than spaghetti, tossed with clams, mussels, local prawns and cherry tomatoes in a broth so good you will tilt the bowl.

For a main, ask the waiter what whole fish came in that day — grilled orata (sea bream) with capers, olives and Amalfi lemon zest is a frequent and magnificent option.

Atmosphere and Booking

Tables on the narrow outdoor terrace are just metres from the beach and the sound of waves is a constant, low presence throughout dinner — bring a light layer for evenings even in summer.

The wine list leans heavily into Campanian bottles: ask for a carafe of chilled Fiano di Avellino to pair with seafood, or a local Furore Bianco from the Marisa Cuomo estate nearby.

Reservations are essential in July and August; book at least a week ahead by phone or email, as the restaurant does not use online booking platforms.
