Arrowtown Farmers Market on Library Green
Every Sunday from late October through April, Library Green in the heart of Arrowtown transforms into one of Central Otago's most convivial outdoor markets — a sun-dappled gathering under the trees where local farmers, bakers, cheesemakers and artisans lay out their best work. Bring a blanket and absolutely no agenda.
What's on the Stalls
The market features a variety of stalls offering fresh, locally sourced produce, artisanal foods and handmade crafts, making it a genuine showcase of the region's larder. Whitestone Cheese is a regular highlight and is not shy with the samples; look out also for fresh Stewart Island salmon, gourmet sausages and chutneys alongside Central Otago cherries and apricots in the height of summer.
Baked goods run from sourdough loaves to tempting cakes, and the coffee is serious — this is New Zealand, after all. International street-food stalls bring dumplings, crepes and empanadas into the mix, so even the pickiest eaters leave happy.
Beyond the Food
The market is not all about eating. Local crafters and artisans sell clothes, jewellery, prints, photographs, homewares and plants, with standout makers including ceramicists, hand-dyers working with high-country wool and apothecary makers infusing products with native kawakawa and mānuka oil.
