Lido di Noto (San Lorenzo beach)
The road to San Lorenzo beach arrives with a few seconds of warning — prickly pear crowding both verges, oleander and jasmine drifting through the car window, villas sitting quiet behind their shutters. Then the sea opens up. The beach sits about seven kilometres from Noto's Baroque centre, and the distance matters: this is where the town exhales.
The water here moves. Wind comes in reliably off the Mediterranean, which makes the shoreline a draw for windsurfers and kitesurfers, and gives even still days a kind of energy. Beach clubs offer sunbeds, showers, QR-code ordering and fresh seafood; further along, free public stretches of sand ask nothing of you at all.

People who return tend to arrive early to claim a spot on the free sections before the clubs fill up, then eat at one of the waterfront places at lunch — red tuna, sardines, local wine. The ice cream truck near the entrance is not glamorous and is worth stopping at anyway. Late afternoon, the wind drops a little and the light goes gold.
The story behind Lido di Noto (San Lorenzo beach)
San Lorenzo is a natural beach rather than a built monument, and its history is less a sequence of dates than a slow accumulation of use. The lido infrastructure — beach clubs, waterfront restaurants, the establishments offering sunbeds and umbrellas — developed over the latter half of the twentieth century as car ownership made Sicily's coast accessible to the inland towns that had always been close but not quite reachable.
The beach's position near Marzamemi, a village with its own long fishing history, ties it loosely to a coastline that has been working water for centuries. The red tuna and red shrimp on every menu here are not decorative choices.
Good to know
About 15 minutes by car from Noto; parking runs around €5 a day. Summer bus connections exist but are limited — your own transport is more reliable. Beach clubs operate June through September. July and August pack the free sections tight; early June or September give you the same water with considerably more space.
Swimming runs from June through November, with water temperatures peaking around 26°C in August. May, June, and September are the practical sweet spots — reliably warm, far less crowded, and the wind that makes August feel bearable is still present without the school-holiday crowds.

Great experience at both San Lorenzo classic and plus.
Can be really windy
They charge you 40-50 euros for a sunbeds set but surprisingly this does not include showers. If you want to take a shower after beach, you need to pay a deposit, they give you card with a few “showers” included. This is absurd! Also toilets are dirty and not maintained.
Great beach club in San Lorenzo! Staff was helpful and the food was incredible. Beautiful beach front with lots of space to lay out.
