Housed in a converted 19th-century post-office building two blocks from the château, La Poste has been feeding Rambouillet locals and day-trippers for decades with honest French bistro cooking anchored to seasonal Yvelines produce.

The menu changes with the market but the terrine de campagne served with cornichons and sourdough is a permanent fixture and a reliable benchmark of the kitchen's craft.
Game dishes appear from September onward — venison from the Forêt de Rambouillet often features as a plat du jour in October and November, and it is worth timing a visit accordingly.
Atmosphere and setting
The dining room retains original post-office ironwork and tiled floors; the result is a warm, unstuffy space that feels genuinely local rather than staged for tourists.
Tables on the small street terrace fill fast on sunny lunchtimes; reservations are strongly advised for Saturday lunch after the market.
