Red Incense Burner Summit, known in Cantonese as Hung Heung Lo Shan, sits above the Braemar Hill residential area and is widely regarded as Hong Kong's most accessible urban hiking viewpoint. The trail from the minibus terminus at Braemar Hill Road takes just over ten minutes of gentle climbing on a well-maintained path to reach the top.
The summit has a viewing platform and stone benches, making it a comfortable spot to linger. On a clear day the view stretches across the full width of Victoria Harbour, taking in the Causeway Bay typhoon shelter directly below, the skyscrapers of Wan Chai and Central to the west, and the hills of the New Territories on the horizon.
When to Go & How to Get There
The summit rewards visitors at both sunrise and dusk — golden-hour light turns the harbour copper and the city's neon begins to flicker on as the sky darkens. Weekday mornings are quietest; weekend afternoons draw local joggers and photographers.
Take green minibus No. 24A from Causeway Bay (stop near Victoria Park on Causeway Road) to the Braemar Hill terminus, then follow the signed trail uphill. The entire outing from Causeway Bay MTR to summit and back takes under an hour, making it an easy half-morning excursion.
