Caffi Siabod & Tyn-y-Coed Pub

Capel Curig's two most beloved food stops sit within metres of each other on the A5 and between them cover every hunger from a pre-dawn hiker's breakfast to a post-summit pint of dark Welsh ale. Caffi Siabod's homemade cakes and Tyn-y-Coed's sticky toffee pudding have become near-legendary among Snowdonia regulars.

Caffi Siabod: The Hiker's Kitchen

Caffi Siabod is a welcoming café on the A5 in the heart of Capel Curig, known for hearty cooked breakfasts, satisfying light meals, and an appealing selection of homemade cakes. Consistently well-prepared food and a wide choice of breakfast options make it popular with locals and visitors alike.

Friendly, efficient staff keep a lively yet relaxed atmosphere even when the café fills up with muddy boots and dripping waterproofs. A small gallery of landscape photographs and shelves of guidebooks add a distinctly local character — this is a place that understands exactly who its customers are and what they need.

Tyn-y-Coed Pub: The Evening Reward

The Tyn-y-Coed Inn, also on the A5, is Capel Curig's village pub and the natural gathering point for climbers and walkers at the end of the day. Rated 4.4 on Tripadvisor with over 300 reviews, its British pub menu leans into classic comfort food — the sticky toffee pudding in particular draws repeat visitors.

The pub atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, the kind of place where a table of mountain guides and a family on a rainy-day retreat coexist happily. Real ales and a solid wine list make it equally good for a quick post-hike pint or a proper sit-down dinner.

Planning Your Meals

Caffi Siabod is the natural breakfast and lunch stop before heading into the hills — arrive early on weekends as it fills quickly. The Tyn-y-Coed handles evenings and is the better choice for a full meal with drinks.

Neither venue takes itself too seriously, which is exactly right for a mountain village. Dress code is firmly 'whatever you hiked in' and both places are used to accommodating large, hungry groups.
