Canmore Farmers Market
Every Thursday and Sunday morning in summer, Canmore's downtown comes alive with one of Alberta's most charming small-town markets — a compact but richly stocked gathering of local producers, artisans, and food vendors set against a backdrop of jagged Rocky Mountain peaks. It is the best single place to taste, shop, and feel like a local in the space of an hour.
What to Expect at the Stalls
The market punches well above its size, offering honey-based foods and body products, handmade candles, jewellery, clothing, and cosmetics alongside fresh produce and ready-to-eat bites. Local beekeepers, mountain-herb growers, and small-batch food producers set up alongside painters and photographers whose work captures the landscape you have just been hiking through.
Come hungry. Street-food vendors rotate through the season, and the coffee is always excellent — pick up a cup and wander slowly rather than rushing through. The market is compact enough to cover twice in a single visit.
Location and the Neighbourhood Around It
The market sits in the heart of downtown Canmore, within easy walking distance of the town's best restaurants, galleries, and the Policeman's Creek Boardwalk. After browsing the stalls, cross the street to the boardwalk for a flat, scenic riverside walk with unobstructed views of the Three Sisters peaks — one of the most photographed mountain triptychs in Canada.
The surrounding blocks on and around Main Street and 8th Avenue are lined with independent shops, cafés, and the Rocky Mountain Bagel Company — a local institution for a post-market breakfast bagel sandwich before your afternoon hike.
