Smorgasburg Williamsburg

The New York Times once called it 'the Woodstock of Eating,' and on any given Saturday at Marsha P. Johnson State Park in Williamsburg, it's hard to argue — 70-plus independent food vendors line the East River waterfront with a view of Manhattan that makes every bite taste better.

America's Biggest Weekly Food Market

Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in the United States, drawing between 20,000 and 30,000 visitors to Brooklyn each weekend. What began with just 20 vendors in Williamsburg has grown into a cultural institution with locations across New York, Los Angeles, South Florida, and Atlanta.

The vendor lineup rotates and evolves every season, but the through-line is always the same: independent chefs, emerging concepts, and a staggering range of global cuisines packed into one waterfront lawn. Recent seasons have featured Korean BBQ bowls, ultra-fine bingsoo shaved ice, Mumbai street food, Fuzhounese potato dumplings, and Colombian barbecue alongside returning favourites like Mao's Bao, Dough Doughnuts, and Red Hook Lobster Pound.

Two Locations, Two Vibes

Saturday's market at Marsha P. Johnson State Park in Williamsburg is the original and the loudest — a buzzing, sun-drenched party on the East River with Manhattan shimmering across the water. Sunday's edition moves to Breeze Hill inside Prospect Park, where the atmosphere is quieter, greener, and naturally pairs with a post-market stroll through Brooklyn's only forest.

Both markets are free to enter and run from 11 am to 6 pm every weekend from early April through late October. Dogs are welcome on a leash at the Williamsburg location.
