Hollenbeck Park Lake Viewpoint

Hollenbeck Park is one of Los Angeles's oldest public parks, and the footbridge over its willow-fringed lake offers one of the most quietly beautiful urban vistas in the entire city — downtown LA's skyline shimmering beyond the water, with paddleboats drifting in the foreground.

The Lake and Its Bridges

The 18-acre lake is the park's centerpiece, and the ornamental footbridge on the south side gives you a postcard-worthy perspective: glassy water reflecting the willows, a scattering of ducks and herons, and the distant towers of downtown framed perfectly at golden hour.

Photographers and quinceañera parties alike gravitate here for the light in the late afternoon — arrive around 5 PM in summer for the warmest glow.

Beyond the Water

The park's rolling lawns host weekend family gatherings, soccer games, and the occasional outdoor birthday party complete with a bouncy castle and cumbia soundtrack — a joyful, lived-in atmosphere that feels nothing like the manicured parks of West LA.

The Boathouse at Hollenbeck, a historic structure on the park's edge, has been restored and provides a lovely architectural anchor for photos along the eastern shore.
