Tap Social Movement Botley Taproom
Tucked inside a converted warehouse off Botley Road, Tap Social Movement is Oxford's most compelling craft brewery — one where every pint you order directly funds training and employment for people in prison and recent prison leavers. It's the kind of place that makes you feel genuinely good about your round.
A Brewery With a Mission
Tap Social Movement was founded in 2016 as a fully independent social enterprise, and its flagship Botley taproom — home to the original 1000-litre brew kit — opened to the public in January 2017. Today the movement has created more than 100,000 hours of paid, meaningful employment for prison leavers across Oxfordshire.
The warehouse-style space seats around 170 people, with café-style tables, standing room and a mezzanine level. It's airy, unpretentious and buzzing with the kind of energy that comes from a genuinely community-rooted project.
What to Drink & When to Go
The bar pours Tap Social's own multi-award-winning core range of modern keg beers alongside guest craft ales, wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic options. On select evenings, hand-stretched sourdough pizzas come out of the kitchen — arrive hungry.
The event calendar is relentlessly lively: live music, indie discos, yoga, community fundraisers, even live wrestling. Thursday and Friday evenings are the sweet spot for a full taproom atmosphere, while Sunday afternoons draw a relaxed, family-friendly crowd.
