Parque de los Venados

Tucked into the heart of Benito Juárez, Parque de los Venados is the borough's most beloved green square — a 25-acre people's park where food trucks, carnival rides, and a proper dog park coexist in cheerful, unpretentious harmony.

A Park That Does Everything

This 25-acre park represents one of the best of Mexico City's outdoor spaces. With more than 10,000 trees, a fountain, kids' carnival rides and games, a dog park, and food trucks, it can make for a whole day of fun and people-watching.

Weekdays see the park filled with dog-walkers, people exercising, and kids on carnival rides after school. Weekends turn into a full-on spectacle, packed with people lining its Talavera-tiled benches and snacking at the many different food stands.

The Real Benito Juárez, Unfiltered

Though popular, it maintains its neighbourhood-friendly vibe and provides a lot of shade and oxygen to an otherwise not heavily treed zone. Unlike Chapultepec, there are no tour buses — just families, teenagers on bikes, and abuelos feeding pigeons.

The food truck scene along the park's perimeter is genuinely excellent: look for the tlayuda cart on the north side and the elote vendor who sets up near the main fountain every afternoon. Prices are a fraction of what you'd pay in Roma or Condesa for the same quality.

Getting There & Making a Day of It

The park sits at the intersection of División del Norte and Doctor José María Vértiz — the 'Parque de los Venados' Metrobús stop drops you right at the gate. From here, Parque Hundido is a 15-minute walk north along Insurgentes, making a natural green double-bill.

Arrive by 09:00 on a Sunday to catch the joggers and outdoor yoga classes before the crowds build. By noon the food stalls are in full swing and the park reaches its joyful, noisy peak — a scene that feels entirely, authentically chilango.
