Mirador de Es Colomer, Cap de Formentor

Perched about 200 metres above the sea at the tip of the wild Formentor Peninsula, Mirador de Es Colomer delivers what many consider the most breathtaking panorama in the Balearic Islands — a wall of jagged cliffs, the deep cobalt of the Mediterranean, and on clear days, the silhouette of Menorca on the horizon. The short walk from the car park makes it accessible to almost anyone.

The View Itself

Standing on the broad platform, the sheer limestone cliffs of the Formentor Peninsula drop straight into the sea directly opposite — a sense of scale that genuinely stops conversation.

On clear days you can spot Menorca floating on the horizon, while Eleonora's falcons ride the thermals below your feet — a wildlife bonus that costs nothing.

Sunset is the magic hour: the last light paints the cliffs in impossible shades of amber and rose, and the sea turns from turquoise to deep violet in minutes.

Nearby: Torre d'Albercutx

A short drive from the main mirador stands Torre d'Albercutx, a historic watchtower built to spot pirate ships, which adds a layer of history to the landscape and opens views in all four compass directions.

The tower is often quieter than the main viewpoint and rewards the small detour with a different, more intimate angle on the peninsula.

Together, Mirador de Es Colomer and Torre d'Albercutx form one of the finest short viewpoint circuits on the island.

Getting There

Head 5 km in the direction of Cap de Formentor from Puerto de Pollença — the mirador is signposted and has a car park a very short walk from the platform.

Note that the road to Cap de Formentor itself is subject to seasonal access restrictions; check current rules before you go, as a shuttle bus may be required in peak summer.

Combine the visit with a swim at Platja de Formentor, one of Mallorca's most celebrated beaches, on the way back.
