Al Barsha Pond Park
Amid the glass towers and motorway flyovers, Al Barsha Pond Park is a genuine breath of fresh air — 50 acres of landscaped greenery wrapped around a large man-made lake where locals jog, paddle-boat, picnic, and simply slow down.
Life around the pond
The park's 1.5-kilometre cushioned running track loops the central pond and is marked every 100 metres — a favourite among Dubai's running community for its soft surface and flat, scenic route. A separate cycling path runs parallel, and bikes, e-scooters, and pedal go-karts can all be rented on-site.
The pond itself is the park's social heart: swan-shaped pedal boats and solar-powered vessels operated by vendors like Chiki Boats offer a gentle drift across the water, especially popular with families on weekend afternoons.
Facilities & community feel
Beyond the water, the park packs in tennis courts, basketball courts, a mini football pitch, a beach volleyball court, and three shaded children's play areas — all free to use and well-maintained by Dubai Municipality.
Date palms, flower-lined hedgerows, and clusters of park benches give the grounds a genuinely lush feel. It is the kind of place where Al Barsha residents come every morning, which is exactly why it feels so authentically local rather than touristy.
Best time to visit & getting there
November to March is the sweet spot, when temperatures are mild enough to enjoy the park from sunrise to sunset. In summer, early mornings or evenings after 6 PM are the only comfortable windows — but the park is still busy with dedicated regulars.
The nearest metro stop is Sharaf DG Station on the Red Line, from where the park is a short taxi or ride-share ride. Entry is completely free, all year round.
