The Legend Behind the Stones
According to Palauan oral tradition, Malsol was a fierce warrior from a neighbouring state who was stoned to death by the women of Elechui Village after he killed one of their sons. The stones were left exactly where they fell, forming the tomb that visitors see today.
That act of collective justice became a defining story of Aimeliik identity. The site is not roped off or manicured — it sits organically within the village, which makes the encounter feel genuinely intimate rather than staged.

Malsol's Tomb and the Aimeliik Bai sit close enough to visit together in a single stop. Locals in Elechui are often willing to share more details of the legend if you approach respectfully and show genuine curiosity — these oral histories are far richer than any sign could convey.
