Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple)

Wat Rong Suea Ten, the Blue Temple, is absolutely breathtaking. The vibrant blue exterior accented with gold creates one of the most striking temples in Thailand, and the attention to detail throughout the grounds is simply incredible. Every angle offers another beautiful view and plenty of opportunities for stunning photographs. Inside, the temple is equally impressive, featuring magnificent artwork, intricate murals, and a serene atmosphere that invites quiet reflection. Despite being a popular attraction, it still feels peaceful and welcoming. Whether you're interested in Thai architecture, Buddhist art, or photography, Wat Rong Suea Ten is a must-visit when you're in Chiang Rai. It's a remarkable temple that is every bit as memorable as the city's other famous landmarks.

The Blue Temple is hands-down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The first thing you notice is the color, it’s this incredible, deep electric blue that you just don't see anywhere else. Most temples are gold or red, but this one looks like something out of a dream. It’s covered in these super detailed gold carvings that really pop against the blue, and the huge dragon statues at the front are honestly mind-blowing. They look so fierce and realistic, and they make for some of the best photos you’ll ever take. The best part is how calm it feels despite how bright and bold it is. When you walk inside, there’s a massive white Buddha statue that almost seems to glow because of the blue walls around it. Everything feels very modern and clean, and the artwork on the walls is just stunning. It’s not a massive site, so it’s easy to walk around without getting tired, but you’ll find yourself stopping every two seconds to look at a new detail. If you’re anywhere near Chiang Rai, you absolutely have to stop here, it’s a total vibe and easily a 10/10.

Beautiful temple with it's unique northern (Lanna) style. There are many shops within the temple ground. From gift shops to food and beverages stalls. You can take a rest on the park benches under the trees whilst enjoy the beauty of the temple. Toilets are clean and always well kept. I recommend not to skip the last building at the end as it's a museum. The staff will run a short film about the history of the temple which is interesting. It's a great break from the heat outside as it's air-conditioned.

This is another temple on my bucket list during this trip. I am very glad that I managed to visit here and photograph this lovely structure. The exterior of this building is amazing with it's intricate carvings. The interior is no less impressive with it's lovely mural and art on the ceiling and the walls. The grounds are also filled with amazing statues and installations. What really got to me was the selection of colour. The lovely cerulean hue worked amazingly well with the gold accents and gave this temple a timeless feel to it. There is a muzium out back which is worth visiting as well.

It feels like a continuation of the creativity seen at the White Temple, but with its own unique identity. The details, colors, and overall design show a high level of craftsmanship and imagination. Despite being a popular attraction, the temple is well organized and not overly crowded, allowing you to enjoy the experience comfortably. There is enough space to walk around, take photos, and appreciate the architecture without feeling rushed. Overall, Wat Rong Suea Ten is definitely a must visit in Chiang Rai. It offers a perfect combination of modern art, traditional spirituality, and unforgettable visual beauty. We had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
