Pointe du Moulinet
A narrow granite headland jutting between Plage de l'Écluse and Plage du Prieuré, Pointe du Moulinet rewards a ten-minute walk with one of the finest panoramas on the Côte d'Émeraude — Saint-Malo's walled city glittering across the water, the Rance estuary opening to the south, and the open Atlantic to the north.
The Walk Out
A well-maintained coastal path winds around the point through wind-sculpted pines and over pink granite outcrops. The route is short enough for young children but dramatic enough to feel like a real adventure, especially when a westerly is running and spray lifts off the rocks below.
At the very tip stands a small orientation table identifying the islands, headlands and lighthouses visible on a clear day — including the Île de Cézembre and, on exceptional days, the distant profile of Cap Fréhel to the west.
Best Times to Visit
Sunrise is extraordinary here: Saint-Malo's ramparts catch the first light while Dinard is still in shadow, creating a two-tone seascape of gold and grey-blue. The point is rarely crowded before 8 am even in peak season.
Sunset is equally rewarding from the western flank of the headland, where the sky over the open sea turns amber and the tidal currents in the Rance entrance create swirling patterns of reflected colour.
